Self Sustainability Project

We're focused on establishing a self-sustainable model for the orphanage in Mexico by utilizing lime orchards, blackberry cultivation, and honey production. This initiative aims to provide a consistent source of income, food, and resources for the orphanage, ensuring its long-term sustainability and reducing dependency on external support. Currently, production of these crops has been able to provide funding for 20% of Give New Lifeā€™s operating costs.

We have partnered with local families to harvest and care for all of our orchards in order to bring an extra source of income for our orphanage. We will harvest crops and sell them when they reach maturity in local markets or directly to vendors. After covering production expenses we divide the earnings 50-50 between farmers and our organization.

Lime Orchard / Blackberry Cultivation Orchards

We need:
  • 10,000 seedlings for each orchard type. (Approximately $6k)
  • A reservoir to capture rainwater that maintains crop hydration throughout the dry season. (Approximately $15k)
  • Additional irrigation infrastructure to ensure healthy growth of crops. (Approximately $2k)
  • Additional fencing to keep out animals from damaging our crops. (Approximately $4k)

Honey Production

We need:
  • More bees and beehives with necessary equipment within the premises, ensuring a suitable location away from human activity. (Approximately $10k)
